A4 Printing Guide
A4 is the default for almost every document in India. Here is how to use it properly.

A4 measures 210 by 297 millimetres. It is the standard document size across India and most of the world, and it is what you get unless you deliberately ask for something else. Every university submission format, office letterhead, resume template and government form assumes it.
Because it is the default, A4 is also the cheapest size to print. Paper is bought in volume, machines are set up for it, and nothing needs trimming.
The decisions worth making are about paper weight, margins and the occasional page that should not be A4 at all.
The A Series Explained Quickly
The A series works by halving. A3 is exactly two A4 sheets side by side, at 297 by 420 mm. A5 is half an A4, at 148 by 210 mm. Because every size shares the same proportions, a document scales between them without distortion.
That has a practical use. A large spreadsheet or engineering drawing that becomes unreadable when squeezed onto A4 can be printed at A3 with no redesign. A booklet or handout can be printed A5 to feel compact and cost less paper. Most documents, though, should stay A4 because that is what readers, files and folders expect.
Choosing Paper Weight
GSM means grams per square metre and describes paper weight. Standard document printing uses 70 GSM, which is economical, handles text well and is what most assignments, notes and reports are printed on.
Step up to 80 or 100 GSM when the document is double side with heavy ink coverage, when it will be handled repeatedly, or when it represents you formally — a resume, a client proposal, a certificate. Above that, card stock in the 200 to 300 GSM range is used for covers rather than interior pages. Heavier paper costs more per sheet and adds courier weight, so choose it for a reason rather than by default.
Setting Margins Correctly
A comfortable A4 text margin is around 25 mm on the top, bottom and outside edges. The inside edge, where binding happens, should be wider — typically 30 to 38 mm for bound work, and never less than about 12 mm of clear space after binding.
Avoid pushing content right to the sheet edge. Standard document printing does not bleed to the edge, so a background colour or image that runs to the boundary will finish with a thin white border. If a full bleed look is required, the page must be printed oversize and trimmed, which is a different process and should be discussed before ordering.
When A4 Is Not The Right Size
Use A3 for engineering drawings, architectural plans, large data tables, project charts, posters for departmental display, and anything where reducing to A4 would make labels illegible. It is also used for folded A4 booklet spreads.
Use A5 for pocket notes, small handouts, event programmes and compact booklets. And keep in mind that mixing sizes inside a single bound document is possible but should be planned: an A3 sheet folded into an A4 report works well for one or two large figures, and badly for twenty.
What A4 Printing Costs And How To Reduce It
Cost follows the same four inputs as every job: pages, sides, colour mode and copies. On A4 specifically, the two effective levers are duplex printing, which halves the sheets, and mixed colour mode, which keeps colour rates off text pages.
A third lever is page count itself. Tightening line spacing from double to 1.5, or reducing an over generous margin, can remove a surprising number of pages from a long document — but only do it where the formatting guideline allows. Never compress a submission below its required format to save paper.
How To Place A Printing Order With Us
The same six steps apply to every document covered in this guide.
1. Upload Document
Open the upload printout page and tap the upload area. Your device file picker opens and you can select a PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, JPEG or PNG file up to 150 MB. The file name, type and size are shown back to you, and you can change or remove the file before continuing.
2. Select Printing Options
Choose black & white, colour or mixed mode, and single side or double side. Mention paper weight or A3 pages here if your document needs them.
3. Enter Total Pages
Read the page count from your PDF reader rather than estimating it, and give an exact page range if only part of the document should be printed.
4. Enter Number Of Copies
There is no minimum. One copy is a valid order, and so is a run of several thousand. Copy count is what decides whether digital or offset production is cheaper for you.
5. See Estimated Price
The order summary combines pages, sides, colour mode and copies into a live estimate so you can compare options before committing to anything.
6. Submit / Request Order
Submit the request and an Order ID appears on screen. We then confirm the final amount and any delivery charge with you on 7289879398 before printing begins.
Binding, Collection And Delivery Options
Loose sheets suit drafts and anything destined for a ring file. Spiral and wiro binding lie completely flat, which is why they are the default for notes, lab records, manuals and working documents. Soft cover perfect binding gives a squared, printable spine and is the usual choice for project reports, proposals and paperbacks. Hardbinding, with foil spine text where required, is used for theses, archival record copies and premium editions. Card covers from 250 to 300 GSM, with matt or gloss lamination, can be added to any bound document and cost very little across a small number of copies.
Finished work can be collected free of charge from our counter at T-552 Baljeet Nagar, Patel Nagar, New Delhi, Delhi 110008. That is the fastest and cheapest option if you are in Patel Nagar, Baljeet Nagar, Shadipur, Karol Bagh, Rajinder Nagar, Ranjit Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Naraina or anywhere in Central or West Delhi, and it removes courier transit from your timeline entirely — which matters when a submission or a meeting is fixed. Everywhere else in India we dispatch by tracked courier. The delivery charge depends on parcel weight and your destination pin code, is paid by the customer, and is quoted before dispatch rather than added afterwards. Delhi NCR addresses in Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad are usually quickest; remote pin codes take longest. We give you dispatch confirmation and tracking instead of promising a delivery date on a courier’s behalf.
What Drives The Price
Four inputs account for almost every printing quote: total pages, number of sides, colour mode and number of copies. Pages set the volume of the job. Sides decide how many physical sheets that volume becomes, so double side printing halves paper use, document thickness and courier weight in one decision. Colour mode sets the per side rate, with black and white lowest, full colour highest, and mixed mode applying colour rates only to the pages that genuinely contain colour. Copies multiply the run, but not linearly, because file checking and setup happen once regardless of quantity and the per copy cost therefore falls as the run grows. Binding, paper upgrades, card covers, lamination and A3 pages are quoted on top, and delivery is always separate. If your job is unusual in any way, a two minute call to 7289879398 produces a firmer number than any calculator.
